Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why is the digital screen flashing or showing faint numbers?
Low battery:
The battery power is nearly depleted.
Solution:
Replace the 1.5V button cell (typically LR44 or SR44).
Why does the reading not return to 0.00 when the jaws are closed?
Debris or displacement:
Dust, oil, or microscopic metal shavings are on the measuring faces or the main scale.
Solution:
Wipe the jaws with a clean cloth, close them completely, and press the
ZERO
button.
What does it mean when the numbers skip or freeze while sliding?
Sensor interference:
Moisture or dirt has gotten inside the linear capacitive scale underneath the silver sticker.
Solution:
Clean the slider track carefully with a dry cloth and remove any moisture.
Can I use this digital caliper near strong magnetic fields?
No:
Strong magnets or high-frequency magnetic fields can temporarily corrupt the electronic readings.
Solution:
Keep the tool away from magnetic bases, welding equipment, and electric motors while measuring.
How often should I calibrate my digital caliper?
Standard use:
For hobbyist or general workshop use, checking it yearly against a known gauge block is sufficient.
Professional use:
Industrial settings often require official calibration every 6 to 12 months.
