About the opportunity

Lead Chemica’s growth in your Province

Chemica is a long-established and highly respected company with a strong commercial presence across Papua New Guinea, operating in agriculture, chemicals, and related distribution sectors. Our first Provincial Business Executives have now been appointed and are already working with Chemica in their home Provinces. That first round did not fill every Province in our growth plan, and we are now inviting applications from candidates in the Provinces that remain open.

This is not a conventional sales role. We are looking for individuals who are already deeply embedded in their Province — people with established relationships at the highest levels of government, industry, and civil society. You will be Chemica’s most senior representative in your region, responsible for opening and nurturing significant commercial relationships that will shape the company’s long-term presence in that Province.

Target Provinces

One Provincial Business Executive will be appointed in each of the following Provinces:

Western

Province-based appointment

Bougainville

Autonomous Region of Bougainville

Sandaun

Covers East and West Sepik; based in Vanimo

New Britain

Covers East and West New Britain; based in Kokopo

The New Britain appointment covers both East and West New Britain and will be based in Kokopo. The Sandaun appointment covers both East and West Sepik and will be based in Vanimo. Please state clearly in your application which Province you are applying for. Applications are open only to candidates who are from the Province they nominate — you must have genuine roots there and existing, demonstrable connections within it.
The ideal candidate

Senior standing. Trusted relationships. Commercial judgement.

You are a senior executive or leader who is already well known and respected in your Province. Your value to Chemica lies primarily in who you know, the trust you have earned, and your ability to open doors that others cannot. Specifically, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

Seniority & Standing

  • An established professional profile at senior or executive level within your Province or region
  • A background in senior roles within government, NGOs, the resources sector, agribusiness, or large commercial organisations
  • The credibility and stature to engage as a peer with Provincial Governors, Members of Parliament, Departmental Heads, and senior institutional leaders

Relationship Capital

  • Existing, active relationships with key decision-makers in government, mining, agriculture, health, or development sectors within your Province
  • A demonstrated ability to build and sustain long-term, trust-based commercial partnerships at the highest levels
  • Networks spanning both the public and private sectors, including NGOs, donor-funded programmes, and major resource projects

Commercial Acumen

  • The ability to identify significant, high-value business opportunities and convert them into lasting commercial agreements
  • An understanding of how large organisations and government entities make procurement and partnership decisions
  • Experience negotiating and closing complex, senior-level deals

Character & Commitment

  • Deep personal ties to your Province — this role requires genuine roots, not just familiarity
  • Integrity and professionalism of the highest standard — you will represent Chemica to the most senior stakeholders in the country
  • A university degree is preferred but secondary to demonstrable senior experience and networks
